Easter 2010

We had a wonderful Easter yesterday with our families. We celebrated Easter with Shawn's family on Saturday night and then began celebrating Easter Sunday morning at the Sunrise Service. Shawn and I haven't attended an Easter Sunrise Service before so we truly enjoyed it. We left church, came home and cooked, went to my parents and ate, and then went over to Michelle and Jason's to have an egg hunt for Elijah Drake. So much fun to see how excited he gets over finding Easter eggs. :) I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter!!

Grandpapa's 87th Birthday

Friday, we went up to Greenville to celebrate my grandpapa's 87th birthday. What a gift it is to still have a grandparent still alive. Even though he is 87, he still always dresses to the 9's. He has always been known to dress his best no matter where he is going. I enjoyed spending time with my family and him as we celebrated a wonderful day. We ate a delicious restaurant called Flat Rock Grille. I would highly recommend it if you are around Greenville. I hope we can find a way to get one closer to Columbia soon because there was about 10 other things on the menu I wanted to try! :) Happy Birthday Grandpapa!! We love you!

10 Things You Might Not Know

I just finished reading Beth Moore's LPM blog. She is such a great woman and I love reading her blog. I feel that I know her on a more personal level now that I follow it. Today she had a post about 10 Things You Might Not Know About Me and I really enjoyed reading hers and everyone elses. She asks each of the "siestas" to complete one and I wanted to post it on my blog also. :) Here is goes:

1) My name is Hope because of the many years my parents "hoped" for a child.

2) My husband is 7 years older than me, I wouldn't have it any other way! :)

3) I like everything in even numbers. Odd numbers don't fit well with me.

4) If I turn around one way, I have to turn back around the other way...I feel off balance if not. Crazy, I know!

5) I long to be like my parents someday. They are such amazing people and I hope to be like them one day.

6) I LOVE music! I would listen to it all day if I could. I attach memories to songs.

7) I love backrubs.

8) I love to laugh. I have been told many times that I have a contagious laugh. :)

9) I used to be a very talented golfer and piano player. Wish I could get back into playing them both again.

10) I LOVE the beach. I find so much peace, serenity, and comfort there. I could sit by the beach all day and be perfectly content.

Edisto Sewing Marathon

We just got back from a much needed relaxing vacation at Edisto Island. Edisto is one of my favorite places to go because it is very relaxing and peaceful. Unfortunately while we were there, it rained almost every day. The days it didn't rain, we only had a few hours on the beach because it was windy and cold. We were able to enjoy a lot of time together as a family laughing and sewing. Since we recently attended Mary Catherine's sewing workshop, we were all excited about our new sewing journey. We spent a whole day sewing bibs and dresses. Mom taught us many sewing tricks and she taught us how to make a precious laminated bib! We then spent several nights staying up till the wee hours in the morning sewing even more. We had a blast and I came home with a lot of cute bibs and dresses!

Sewing Workshop

Last Saturday my 2 sisters and I attended a sewing workshop done by Mary Catherine. We had the best time laughing at the many times we messed up and the 2 different sewing machines Brittany went through. It was not her fault that they broke but it was halarious at the time. I am so excited about making cute things for our friends who have children or are having children soon! Enjoy the pictures!

Valentine's Day

I had a wonderful Valentine's weekend with my husband. This is our first "married" valentine's day and so we enjoyed treating eachother with a few little surprises. Saturday night, Shawn took me to our favorite resturant, Main Street Cafe in downtown Lexington. When we arrived, he had a beautiful arrangement of my favorite flowers sitting on our favorite "window" table. I was very surprised at what he did for me without me knowing. :) Yesterday we spent time together and went to church. We enjoyed a relaxing valentine's day together. This morning, I woke up early to surprise Shawn with a yummy breakfast-Shrimp and Grits. I actually got to recipe from Mary Catherine's blog a few months ago and was very excited to try it out. It was delicious and I hope to do it again soon! I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day with the people you love the most!
